A partial eclipse of the sun was today observed in some part of the world, including Nigeria.
Although Edo state was not listed as one of the places to experience the natural phenomenon, Wellington Akodeja reports that a partial cloudy day was experienced in Benin City for as long as the eclipse lasted.
The day started as usual in Benin City, as people went about their activities with some going to the church.
The sunny day however gave way to a partial cloud between about one o’clock and four o’clock in the afternoon.
Inspite of the apparent change in weather however, some residents
went about their activities as if nothing unusual has happened.
There were however reports of the partial eclipse being experienced inplaces such as Ibadan, Port-Harcourt, Abuja, Kano and others.
Some members of the public who spoke about the natural phenomenon observed that it was partially experienced in Benin City due to the cloudy weather.
The respondents expressed joy that they were able to witness another eclipse of the sun and prayed God to grant them long life to witness the next eclipse of the sun.
An eclipse of the sun occurs when the moon’s shadow crosses the surface of the earth, thereby causing total or partial darkness in the process.
